Our Story
Our human lineage has been using knives for thousands of years, we evolved alongside the blade as one of our earliest tools. It’s likely the earliest profession was to be a knife maker.
SKMO Knives began in 2019 in the southwest Missouri town of Shell Knob as an adventure into the craft of knife making. Inspired by the human history of all cultures, we focus on making high quality artisan pieces out of patterned steel. Father Harold Parsons and son Dustin Parsons became obsessed with the process of forging and heat treating steel; learning all of the intricacies of making a durable, functional, comfortable cutting tool, while also holding a certain standard of beauty. We sold our first knives in 2020 to some fantastic returning customers and we couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished since then. By making many different kinds of pattern welded steel, and using interesting heat treat methods and finishes, we bring out the beauty of steel in this millennia old craft that we’ve grown fond of.
